Supporting Safe & Empowering Fitness for Youth
At Steamboat Fit, our goal is to help individuals of all ages grow in their personal health and wellness journeys. We believe that fitness is a lifelong skill—and that includes starting young, with the right guidance and support. Our policies for minors are designed to prioritize safety, maintain a positive workout environment for all members, and ensure that minors have the opportunity to learn how to exercise safely, confidently, and effectively.
Steamboat Fit Policy on Minors Attending Group Fitness Classes + Open Gym Access

At Steamboat Fit, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants while maintaining the quality of our group fitness classes. To achieve this, we have established the following guidelines for minors attending our classes:

Age Requirements & Class Eligibility
-
Minors (Ages 14-17): Eligible to participate in group fitness classes and access the open gym without parent supervision. Open gym access is granted following a safety review with a personal trainer.
-
Minors (Ages 11-13): Eligible to participate in group fitness classes or open gym with parental supervision.
-
Children Under 11: Not permitted to attend group fitness classes.

Supervision Requirements for Minors (Ages 11-13)
To ensure a safe and effective environment:
-
Parental or Guardian Supervision: Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during classes. This supervision is in addition to the guidance provided by the class instructor.
-
Instructor’s Role: While instructors lead the class, they are not responsible for individual supervision of minors. Parents or guardians must ensure their child adheres to class protocols and maintains appropriate behavior.

Open Gym Policy for Minors
To ensure a safe and focused workout environment, no more than two minors are permitted to use the open gym at the same time. Group workouts for minors are not allowed during open gym hours.

Policy on Children in the Gym While a Parent Works Out
We understand that parents may need to bring their children to the gym while they work out. To accommodate this while maintaining a safe and distraction-free environment, Steamboat Fit allows children ages 6 and older to remain in the lobby unsupervised under the following conditions:

-
The child must be able to remain preoccupied for the duration of the parent’s workout without requiring direct supervision. This may include reading, homework, a tablet with headphones, or another quiet activity.
-
The parent must check in periodically throughout their workout to ensure their child remains settled and is following gym policies.
-
Children are strictly prohibited from playing on or using any gym equipment. This includes weights, machines, cardio equipment, and functional fitness tools.
Failure to follow these rules may result in a suspension of this privilege.

Policy Rationale & Compliance
This policy is designed to:

✔ Ensure Safety: Providing appropriate supervision minimizes risks and ensures a secure environment for all members.
✔ Maintain Gym Etiquette: Establishing clear expectations for minors helps avoid disruptions and ensures a respectful atmosphere.
✔ Create a Positive Experience for All: Our goal is to accommodate parents while keeping the gym a focused, professional training space.

We appreciate your cooperation in upholding these policies to create a safe and effective fitness environment for all.
